Jog For Hope 2013

This year the annual event “Jog For Hope” held at Taylor’s College Sri Hartamas (TCSH) was held on the 15th of September. In case you are unaware, Jog For Hope is an annual jog-a-thon organized by the students of TCSH, with all proceeds obtained from the jog this year to be donated to the Positive Shelter Home (POSHE).

Goodie bags!

Burning the midnight oil... literally

On the Sunday morning of the jog-a-thon, half an hour before flag off, the college entrance was already filled with joggers anticipating the event. With crowds of people shuffling to register. While some eager participants were already excited and ready for flag off, huddling and stretching whilst chatting away the nervous energy.

Runners registering at the booth

Warm ups were shown on stage for the joggers as they prepped themselves for flag off, with the college entrance packed to the brim with participants and the members of the committee too, shouting into walkie-talkies to ensure people were at their stations. Constant chatter, jitters and jogging on the spot in their white jog for hope shirts like popcorn, the mass of participants line up at the starting line, filling the roads. At 7.45am the horn was blown by Mr.Lim and the avid joggers start their route at a steady speed, while a majority of the participants walk in pace, saving energy. Once the joggers were on their way the volunteers and committee members head to their stations.

Raring to go!

Ready? Set? Go!

Throughout the next couple of hours joggers keep trickling in, progressively past the starting line to continue their route, drenched in determination (and sweat). They power through as there were always supporters by the starting line cheering them on, motivating the participants. As more and more of the participants finish they head inside the college to collect goodie bags and to cool down. There were also a number of booths inside the college for joggers to get food, drinks and even a free massage.

Running to his heart's content

Who is faster? The car or the runners?

By 9.30am all the participants have finished the route and were awaiting the prize giving ceremony, as people gathered around in circles with friends and goodie bags in hand, exhausted, yet excited. Soon after the prize giving ceremony started with a speech from the guest of honour. And cheers were shared all around as this year we have managed to raise RM 37000! An increase from last year’s fundraising by a substantial amount.

A job well done!

Next, the winners for each category was announced, the first 5 winners for each categories get certificates and medals presented by the VIPs. A trophy was presented to the school with the most participants, which for this year was Chong Hwa. And that marks the end of the event, congratulations to all the winners and participants of the event as well as the members of the jog for hope committee and volunteers to make this year’s jog for hope a success.
