Visiting Korea

Surrounded by vast ocean, the Korea peninsula is beautiful with various landscapes, climates and cultures. It is a perfect tourist destination for those who wish to make as many unforgettable memories as possible in a foreign land.

As you get off the airplane, you will be mesmerized by the upscale Incheon airport. It is one of the most modern airports in the world and it has a five star hotel and classic Korean fusion restaurants. Apart from the delicious Korean food and duty free shopping, the airport provides excellent transportation to the city as there are huge airport buses waiting to take you there. These buses will take you to several major cities in Korea, the capital city Seoul and extends its services as far as Pusan, which is located at the furthest tip of the Korean peninsula. However, if this is your first visit to Korea, you are encouraged to roam around Seoul, a bustling industrial and cultural metropolitan.

Although Seoul is a small city, it takes at least a week to visit every famous spot. If you wish to enjoy Korean tradition and modern art, Insadong is the best place for you. Traditional and modern art galleries are centrally located within a few blocks. The careful observer will find some old Korean restaurants camouflaged among the stone forest. Walking on the streets of Insadong will bring back childhood memories of traditional fans, toys and junk food of the past.

Apart from enjoying the classic Korean culture, you would have the opportunity to dance with Korean pop music and meet enthusiastic young Koreans in Hongdae. Along the streets, flourishing cafes, bars and clubs attract many young Koreans. If you are lucky, while you are dancing in a booming club, the person dancing next to you could be a Korean celebrity. If you happen to be in Korea during the World Cup season, you would have gotten free drinks from bar owners to celebrate the Korean soccer team winning the game.

There are many other must-visit places in Seoul. Other than Seoul, Kangwondo is a province of considerable scenic beauty, facing the vast eastern sea and surrounded by high mountains. Jeonlado is a province known for its rich and delicately seasoned food. There are hundreds of places which I have not mentioned. If you wish to experience everything in Korea, a short break is not enough.

TCSH Hanguk club have been putting great effort in promoting the beauty of Korea by teaching Korean, displaying Hanbok (Korean traditional costume) and selling Korean food. The club hopes that more students will join them in celebrating Korea’s unique culture.
