Diary of a Nerd #2
Dear Diary,
I think I may have developed a tiny, little feeling (otherwise known as a crush) for someone in my class. She's beautiful, she's smart, she's just... Special. And even though she, like the rest of the students, never fails to give a sarcastic (sometimes hurtful, but in a good way) remark about my so-called "nerdish" ways, I have a feeling that deep, deep inside of her, she is actually attracted to me. I mean come on, after all, nerd is the new black. I bet that subconsciously, she believes that I'm a sexy beast...
Don't believe me do you? I shall prove my point.
First of all, last week I overheard her saying "I think that nerd likes me..." to her best friend while pointing at me. While a normal reaction of a normal nerd hearing this statement would be: "oh my God! She must've noticed how I literally drooled while staring at her throughout History class!" my reaction is the total opposite. Instead of freaking out at the possibilities of her noticing my awkward conduct whenever she's around, I look at it from another aspect. According to a Psychology research which I've read, a person sometimes develops a defense mechanism called "Projection" where they deny their own feelings and attributes by projecting it to others. In simpler terms, A who likes B, may actually tend to think that B is the one who likes him/her because A who unconsciously denies his/her feelings projects it to his/her crush (which is B). Therefore, there's a possibility that she actually likes me!
Still not believing me? Try this.
The current generation is slowly changing the stereotypical views on nerds. Nowadays, even fictional nerd characters on TV shows are considered sexy! First example: Chuck Bartowski from the primetime series Chuck. Despite exhibiting some characteristics of a nerd i.e working at Buy More and being clumsy as ever, at the end of the day, he is always still the hero. And on top of it all, he gets the sexy agent Sarah Walker to fall for him! Next example, Artie Abrams: Thick glasses, outdated fashion sense, and still could steal the heart of Tina Cohen-Chang and the hearts of millions of other girls who watch Glee. And finally, there’s Dan Humphrey of Gossip Girl. He may have the least characteristics of a nerd compared to the rest, but that doesn't mean he's not in this category. He's concerned about education unlike most of the other Upper East Siders and well, he's the least popular character. Despite that, he gets Serena Van Der Woodsen to fall for him! (And not to mention a thousand of other girls photo spamming him on Tumblr).
So there you go. I've enough evidence to conclude two points:
1) She likes me. It'll take time for her to admit it but she likes me.
2) Isn't it obvious? Nerds will take over the world!
Contrary to my previous post, I actually don't mind being classified as a nerd now.
