Workshop on Teamwork and Group Dynamics

Teamwork is the ability to work towards a common vision; the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives.

This fun and creative workshop by Cheah Su Ming of the Learning and Academics Skills Centre (LASC) of Taylor’s University College made us clearly aware of the benefits of being team players and that in a team there is no room for individualism.

As soon as the workshop began, we were placed into groups of 10 people and the skills of teamwork were already being tested. 5 minutes was needed to come up with a team cheer and a creative way of introducing each individual in the team. I must say it wasn’t an easy task. Working with 9 other individuals to come up with something we all agreed on was no easy thing to do, but that’s the reason we attended the workshop, to gain teamwork skills.

The echoes of laughter and chattering that filled the lecture hall clearly indicated that everyone was playing their role in their team. Each and every person participated in all the group activities and games during the 90 minute workshop and I’m sure that every person benefited from it.

Given that the acronym for TEAM is Together Everyone Achieves More, I believe that teamwork is a key to a person’s success and this workshop will definitely be useful during class projects or work related projects in the near future.

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” - Henry Ford
