Much Ado About SAM 2009 Results
Amidst all the new clubs, new events and festivities, new staff, new counselors and new books, the much awaited South Australian Matriculation (SAM) results of Taylor’s College Sri Hartamas’ first batch of 2009 slowly crept up and showed its true colours earlier this year.
Overall, a refreshing 96.6 % of Taylor’s SAM students successfully completed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) for the 2009 examinations. Amongst these, 82 out of 174 scored a Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) of 80.00 and above. To top it all off, TCSH’s Lee Chun Liang achieved an outstanding TER of 99.15, placing him at the top 0.85% of the student population for the examination worldwide.
But that’s not all, folks. During the SAM graduation, TCSH was proud again to announce Isabell Zubinsha bt Iskandar Zakaria as a recipient of the Outstanding President’s Award 2009. The charismatic student shed a new light of respect towards TCSH with her achievements both academically and non-academically. Isabell shone beyond the classroom as she developed TCSH’s very first Model United Nations club as President, and represented the college in various mock conferences in being a delegate, Secretary General, as well as Chairperson. As far as representing the college goes, Isabell further displayed her diplomatic abilities as a Student Ambassador of TCSH and Head of the Sponsorship department for TCSH’s first Prom Night 2009.
Extensive school involvements did nothing to dampen Isabell’s long-standing passion for stage-life. Isabell was a young member of the Theatre for Young People Ensemble (T4YP) at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), and a prominent actress at that. She had performed in ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead’, and later became the lead actress in ‘I Loved You Once I Loved You Not.’
Despite the hectic mix of responsibilities, Isabell balances activities with her academic achievements well as she successfully received the merit award for the subject English as A Second Language (ESL) in her SAM examinations. TCSH’s proud receiver of the Outstanding President’s Award displayed an excellent ability to manage time as she achieved overall success both indoors, and outside of the classroom.
Overall, Taylors College Sri Hartamas’ first South Australian Matriculation batch of 2009 showcased an impressive beginning for our relatively new campus, building a strong foundation for the years to come. Congratulations SAM Class of 2009!
