Kolej Mara Banting Visit to TCSH

On the 2nd of December 2009, 40 members of staff from Kolej Mara Banting held a visit to Taylor’s College Sri Hartamas for the purpose of exchanging intellectual ideas and learn more on the operations and running of the TCSH.



The members of staff disembark from the bus at around 9 am after which they were brought to Alpha Theatre for the opening speeches and introduction. At 9.30am, Mr. Zainal Tik, the Vice President of Business Development, gave the welcome address and presented the Taylor’s Corporate Video presentation to the visitors. Following, Mr. Thou Kok Cheng, COO of Taylor’s College, presented an inspirational video on Taylor’s history and the mission towards serving the community through providing quality education.


Mr. Anandakumaresh, campus director of Hartamas Campus, then presented the review of Taylor’s College Sri Hartamas in terms of ECA highlights and academic success. Mr. Ananda highlighted some of the biggest events of the year led by the students such as the Jog for Hope, Mass Sports Week, Blood Donation Drive and Prom Night. The visitors were definitely impressed at the innovative and goal-getting capabilities of Taylor’s Hartamas’ students.

Following the lengthy introductions, the visitors were served some refreshments at Beta Theatre. The visitors were presented with an opportunity to meet the administrative staff and lecturers of TCSH during this short break. After that, the visitors were separated into two groups in which Ian Cheah and Jonathan Jack conducted a campus tour for the respective groups. During the campus tour, the visitors were brought to key locations of the college and a detailed explanation on the operations of the various departments was provided. Some of the visitors were very impressed at the design of the staff room, particularly due to the relaxing ambience of the pantry area.

After the campus tour, the lecturers of Kolej Mara Banting were then divided into their respective teaching subjects and a “Job Alike Forum” was conducted with some of TCSH’s senior lecturers of the same profession. The forum covered various topics such as handling students’ behavior, delivering lectures effectively, assisting weaker students and bringing out the talent in students. It was a delight to see lecturers of both colleges exchanging intellectual opinions and ideas on how to improve the overall delivery of quality education.

Finally, the visitors were treated to a filling buffet lunch at Beta Theatre. The visitors were presented with a final opportunity to mingle and exchange contacts with the lecturers of TCSH. All in all, it was a fruitful visit and achieved its goal of extending an intellectual network between the two of the most prestigious colleges in Malaysia.
