For The People, By The People

As February started creeping up, the Student Council Presidential Elections kicked off to a start. The four candidates running for President were chosen after what was an extremely grueling interview. For now, we can only hope that the next new President can help bring out the best that TCSH has to offer.

After the candidates were announced, a week-long campaign went on in TCSH. The candidates went all out to promote themselves for the honourable chance to be the next president of the student body. As the week went on, many activities were held in order to let the students of TCSH to get to know the candidates better. During the week, the candidates each had a chance to give a speech, and also debate. On Friday, the four candidates each had their own carnival not only for campaign purposes, but also to raise money for charity.

"I hope I'm making the right decision!"
Here are our four candidates and their carnivals:

Jae Hoon: His carefree persona made students instantly love him, but underneath the mask; lies a responsible person. With a dream of becoming a future president of South Korea , and a mind that thinks out of the box, Jae Hoon aims for interaction among students and strives to make TCSH a community. For his stall, as per the definition of carnival, Jae Hoon did, in fact, have a carnival. Students had to get tokens in order to play games and buy all types of Korean snacks sold at the carnival.

Mark Ng: Mark’s lifelong wish is to help make a change to unfortunate people’s lives, which led him to his ambition of becoming a doctor. His theme “Culture Shock” means to convey the embracement of various nationalities and races within TCSH, evoking the sense of a whole and exterminating the feeling of not belonging. For his stall, Mark had models from De Fashionsita club to walk down the runway on the ground floor.

Nicholas Seng: His dream of becoming a chemical engineer is quite apt as Nicholas gives off a sense of intelligence and responsibility. Aiming to improve the quality of college life at TCSH, his slogan “Be Heard”, is to embrace all opinions of the student body, because “to achieve a great community, a leader must not only lead, but also listen”. For Nicholas’ stall, it can be put into 2 words: RUNNING MAN! For those who’re strangers to K-drama, it’s a game where you find out who the “mystery thief” is.

Serlie Fatrin: As an honourable member of Student Council for 6 months, Serlie had overcome numerous obstacles. As she uncovers her weaknesses, she subsequently persists in striving forward to improvement and growth. She believes in finishing what she started: “Never do anything by halves, always give 100%”. For her stall, Serlie sold crafty stunt bracelets that surprisingly attracted a lot of buyers. Serlie chose to close  her stall with an amazing performance of Street Culture,

When the votes were finally counted, the president of Student Council TCSH had finally been elected. Mark had been found to have to highest votes followed by Serlie. Jae Hoon took the spot of having the third highest vote.

And it is fitting enough to say that the student body of TCSH is in capable hands. Good luck to them on their future endeavours!
